New requirements for Java version

This version of ISOWARE requires Java 11. ISOWARE has used a great deal of effort in this version, to free us from Java 8, initially to become compatible with Java 11. Java 11 is a so-called LTS (Long Term Support) version. This version will receive updates until September 2023. In one of the upcoming versions of ISOWARE, we expect to switch to Java 17, which is the latest LTS version. However, the transition from Java 11 to Java 17 is not expected to be as extensive as the transition from Java 8 to Java 11.

Java 11 can be downloaded here at the time of writing: https://adoptium.net/temurin/releases. Please note that this version of Java does not include an automatic update function, so you must make sure to download and install new versions at appropriate intervals.

Alternatively, Oracle's version may be used, however, be aware of the license terms when using it.

Improvements and new features

Flowcharts - Default values for colors and font sizes

It is now possible to define default colors and text sizes for flowchart figures. The default values are then used when creating new flowcharts. It is also an optional option to update existing flowcharts to match the default values.

Here's how you do it:

Select Settings in the setup menu
Click Processes/Appearance under the organization you want to edit in the tree on the left
Click next to the individual shapes to select the background color, text color, border color, and text size.
Select next to each flowchart type whether existing processes should be updated to match the selected setup, in the Update existing processes
If updating of existing processes is not selected, setup applies to the flowcharts that are created afterwards.
Note: In Turtle type Flowcharts, it is not possible to deselect updating of existing processes, as this type does not have individual editing of the appearance of shapes.
Click Reset to reset all values to ISOWARE default values
Click Save changes to save the setup

Public access to report creation

It is now possible to grant access to report creation without the need to login.

Public access to create reports can e.g., be used for support inquiries or questionnaires.

On these reports, ISOWARE does not record who created them. If the report template does not contain fields that ask the user to identify themselves, e.g., name, address, email, etc., it will therefore be possible for users to create reports completely anonymously.

Users with report rights who are logged in to ISOWARE can subsequently process the reports normally.

Here's how you do it:

Select Settings in the setup menu
Click Reports/Templates under the organization you want to edit in the tree on the left
Open the report template
Click the Public access tab
Select the Public access activated check box to activate public access
The Public access URL field displays the URL that users must use if they want to create reports without logging in. The URL can be copied to the clipboard by clicking on the button
Select which sections the user should be able to see when the report is created in the Allow viewing of these sections after report creation If the report contains only one section, it cannot be deselected
Select which sections the user should be able to edit when the report is created, in the Allow editing of these sections after report creation field
Select the Allow access to notes check box if the user should have access to the report's notes
Select the Allow access to files check box if the user should have access to the report's files
In the Message to the creator when the report has been created field a text can be inserted, which will be displayed to the user when the report is created.
Note: If the [LINK_TO_REPORT] tag is used, a URL for the user will be displayed in the place where the tag is inserted.
The user can use this URL to open the report later

Default values in date fields when creating reports

In the field type Date field, a default value can now be entered as a number, where the number indicates how many days are to be added to the current date. If the number 0 is entered, the current date is used as the default value:

Here's how you do it:

Select Settings in the setup menu
Click Reports/Templates under the organization you want to edit in the tree on the left
Open the report template
Open the date field
Set the default value and select Save changes

Defects

In some cases, it was not possible to share a link to a report
In some cases, decimal numbers caused report rules to fail
Default values were not set on report fields if the fields were not visible at creation
Error validating numeric values in report tables
In text documents, images were not always included when creating new versions
Import / Export of text documents with images in failed in certain cases
When creating report charts, it was not possible to change the field selection after the chart was created
